A Goodbye To What's Up Wednesday!

Last week I jokingly announced the ending of my blog. It wasn't until after I started posting that I realized that Jamie Morrow and Erin Funke were no longer doing What's Up Wednesday posts (ended March 25th). I still think it's beneficial to me to have weekly update posts, so I will continue to do so. I may make changes over the coming months. It also may not always be on Wednesday (especially days where I have something else to share).

What's Up Wednesday! April 1st - The Last What's Up!

So today I announce that I'm quitting picture book creation, shutting down my blog and becoming a street performer. It's really the only thing that I can go into that's going to make me any money. I'm not a great singer, but I have a profound knowledge of the world around me and boundless enthusiasm. I will be on Vine every day documenting my newfound career.

It's not like anyone reads my blog anyway. What's Up Wednesday was officially canceled by Jaime Morrow Last week. It is time for me to go as well! Please, no tears for me!

WHAT I'M READING

I've worked something out with the local drama group. I direct them, and they will act out every story I ever want to read. I will literally never have to read again.

WHAT I'M WRITING/DRAWING

The only thing I'm writing now is song lyrics. Enjoy this taste of my musical WIP:

Saturday 03/21- Living in silence  and standing on one foot while I physically prepare my body for the unorthodox dance moves I will be doing while I sing.

Sunday  03/22 - Singing in the highest pitches possible to increase my range.

Monday  03/23- Singing in the lowest pitches possible to decrease my range.

What's Up Wednesday! March 11th

The silly time change really messed me up this week. I'm trying my best to get back on track here. I feel like I'm permanently off here, so does that mean I'm always on time?

WHAT I'M READING

Picked up a bunch of new picture books at the thrift store and garage sales! Been reading these to my son. Found Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton, a book about Skeletons and a Super Friends book among many others!  

WHAT I'M WRITING/DRAWING

I'm catching up on projects that I've been meaning to finish. These aren't all drawing projects. One of them is a felt toy I'm sewing. Almost done with it now. It is liberating to get past projects done!

A few days ago I measured and cut paper so I can have my substrate ready when I go to do my finals. I'm almost through all the sketches I need for my dummy on one project. I'm hoping to have that ready for the end of the month. Fingers crossed!

I hadn't intended to stop posting after Tuesday of last week, but this is what happened. I am almost done with moving things and am almost done with cleaning. OH, GOD THE CLEANING! I also have a whole boatload of things left to unpack, but should have time Thursday to get some serious drawing done!

A few pages here and a few pages there of almost every book I unpack. I have to look at every title as I put them on the shelf (a self imposed restriction). I'm noticing a lot of books I forgot I had!

I've got two new ideas for picture books... now if I can remember what they are and get them down on paper before they fade. Also being a bit erratic when it comes to mediums I'm using in my artwork. Tried using colored pencils and I hate it. Why did I use to love it so much? Funny how things change.

What's Up Wednesday! January 28

Another wierd week for me. It's pretty much the norm now. Last week I looked at a house for rent with my In-Laws and yesterday we signed the lease, so we're moving! It's only a couple blocks away from where I live now, but there is lots of extra space. I'm also getting my own art studio, so there is so much to do! This was the good news that I couldn't mention yet. We have the whole month to move and will be in before March 1st.

It's kind of funny because I started throwing out things at the beginning of the year. I threw out some old awards and things we weren't using. Went through some of my old stories and recycled a ton of essays from high school and college. I'm sure my opinion on In School Suspension could change the world as it stands today, but I don't think I'm passionate enough now to incite that kind of change. ^_^

Read a whole bunch of fiction stories today so I could give feedback to the authors. Lots of good stories. Hopefully my comments will make them stronger.

Last week was pretty bad. Barely had time to do a quick drawing for the 52 week Illustration group on Facebook. I think there are too many ideas in my head, and I just couldn't get most of it on paper. I'm hoping tomorrow is better.

Finished up the portrait last week no problem... okay BIG PROBLEM. Somehow I ended up with non-waterproof ink in my ink pen. I use watercolors, so when I went to add them the ink went everywhere. Had to start over, but still got it done in time!

What's Up Wednesday! January 7th (A.K.A David's Birthday)

Today is my son's birthday! He started out the day eating a package of strawberries. That was my fault. I somehow didn't think he'd eat the whole package. Not having much of a party today, but he did have his friend over all day. 

I'm getting my interviews set up now. This is the order so far! I made a mistake and that's why Bobbie's interview is late. I forgot to send her questions of all things! I have all her answers, and apologized, so you will see her interview this Friday!
